Playing without an account

You can play everything without signing in. Your progress, settings and results are kept in your browser's local storage. There are no ads, no tracking cookies and no third-party scripts. Fonts and artwork are served from this site.

Anonymous usage counts

To know how many people play, the game tells our own server when a visit starts and when a game starts and ends: the mode and board size, whether it was won, how long it took, the theme, the site that linked to us (its name only, such as news.ycombinator.com), the campaign tag in the link if there is one, the browser's language, and whether the game was opened as an installed app. The server adds the device type (phone, tablet or desktop).

No cookie is set and nothing is stored on your device for this. To count visitors per day, the server combines your IP address and browser name with a random key that is replaced every day and then deleted, and keeps only the result. It can tell that two visits on the same day came from the same browser, but not who you are or whether you came back the next day. Your IP address is not stored. These counts are never shared or sold. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is sent at all.

If you sign in

Signing in with Google is optional. It adds leaderboards, replays and syncing progress between your devices. We store:

WhatWhy
Your Google account ID (a number Google assigns)To recognise you when you sign in again. We do not store your email address, name or photo.
A nickname you chooseShown on leaderboards and your public profile.
Your ranked and daily games: the board, every move with its time, and the resultTo verify results, rank them, and show replays. Games and replays are public on leaderboards and your profile.
Your synced progress (stars, records, boosters)So your progress follows you to other devices.
A session cookieTo keep you signed in for up to 30 days. It is only used by this site.

When you sign in, Google's sign-in script is loaded from accounts.google.com, and Google handles that step under its own privacy policy. The script is only loaded if you open the sign-in screen.

Our server keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, requested page) for up to 14 days to keep the service secure and working, and uses IP addresses briefly to limit request rates.

Deleting your data

Open the account panel in the game and choose Delete account. Your account, nickname, games, replays and leaderboard places are deleted immediately. Backups roll over and are gone within 30 days.
